Posted by: | Comments (0)

505 Games, a global publisher of video games, and independent game developer Rebellion have announced that Sniper Elite V2 has shipped to North American retail outlets. A reboot of Rebellion’s acclaimed Sniper Elite from 2005, Sniper Elite V2 is a third-person tactical shooter set in the dying days of World War II. Players take on the role of undercover American OSS agent Karl Fairburne who must stalk enemy prey across key historical locations throughout Berlin and attempt to unravel the mysteries and dangers of the German V-2 rocket program before it falls into the hands of Stalin’s Red Army.

“We are very excited to have worked with Rebellion to bring gamers the most immersive sniping experience to date with Sniper Elite V2,” said Ian Howe, president, 505 Games North America. “We can ensure Sniper Elite fans that Sniper Elite V2 offers everything they have come to expect and more with a deep single-player experience and an addictive online co-op mode.”

“We’re delighted to bring Sniper Elite V2 to the current generation of consoles,” said Jason Kingsley, CEO of Rebellion. “This is no run-and-gun shooter, it’s an authentic sniping experience rewarding stealth, forcing players to use their brain as well as their thumbs. We’re extremely proud of how this game looks and plays, gamers are in for an absolute treat.”

Sniper Elite V2 places an emphasis on learning to handle the anticipation and pressure of the hunt and using skill, patience and cunning in order to achieve missions. Featuring detailed sniping simulation with advanced ballistics, gamers must use their environments and take into account gravity, wind, aim, stability and more. The celebrated “kill cam” from Sniper Elite makes its return and is more gratifying than ever – skillful shots are rewarded with a slow-motion sequence of the bullet running its full trajectory before the target is rendered in graphic x-ray detail, showing the bullet entering the body and causing lethal damage.

In addition to the single-player campaign, Sniper Elite V2 features two-player, online co-op in Kill Tally, Bombing Run, Overwatch and Campaign, where fans play through the single-player game with a friend.

Developed by Rebellion, Sniper Elite V2 is available on the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and is rated “M” for Mature by the ESRB.

Alice: Madness Returns

Posted by: | Comments (0)

Insane children, teapots with spider legs, barbaric medical treatments, a murderously tentacled Queen, and a grinning cat with blood on his teeth; these are just some of the raw elements PadWorx Digital Media Inc had to work with when crafting the just-released Alice: Madness Returns™ Storybook App in conjunction with Electronic Arts.

Designed to bridge the gap between games American McGee’s Alice and Alice: Madness Returns, the storybook app introduces readers to the world of Alice as imagined by acclaimed game designer American McGee, recapping the events, characters, and environments from the first game while setting the stage for the visionary world of Alice: Madness Returns.

“It was an amazing experience for us to work with EA and American McGee’s company Spicy Horse on such an intensely realized project,” said Jeffery Alan Schechter, Creative Director and President of PadWorx Digital Media, Inc. “American McGee’s Alice is a legendary title in the game industry, and just being mentioned in the same breath is a real honor.”

“We needed a partner who could bring the incredible story and styling of Alice: Madness Returns to life, we wanted to set the bar for what a free interactive storybook experience could be, and we needed it done fast,” said Ben Swanson, Online Marketing Manager at EA. “PadWorx stepped up and not only delivered a beautifully intense book in record time – just six weeks — they also simultaneously developed the book for iOS, Android, and even a Flash version that’s playable from inside our Facebook page. These guys are rock stars!”

PadWorx Digital Media, Inc., a leading developer of interactive, immersive eBooks for tablet devices, worked closely with game developer Spicy Horse to create what has been described as the most intense reading experience ever on a mobile device. Rated 17+ by iTunes, the Alice: Madness Returns Storybook is a free download and is both a prequel and a companion to the upcoming EA game Alice: Madness Returns.

PadWorx Digital Media was founded by Schechter, a two-time Emmy-nominated writer and producer, and Tod Baudais, a game developer and former head of software at STARZ Animation. Most recently, PadWorx completed an innovative book for The Juno Company, Juno Jr : The Day The Music Stopped, which is the first pre-school book designed as a side-scrolling, 3D game.

666Gamer

666Gamer has released some of the best scary games on the Internet as well as sponsoring many more. One of these games is Billy Genocide – where a sociopath battles his own demons as well as the invading forces of the undead in a Flash based side-scrolling espcapage. The specific media offering by 666Gamer is vast and has a large following.

Speaking more about the games, owner Andrew James said, “Trying to define horror has taken up volumes of print and endless documentaries in the making. In trying to seek that unexplainable feeling of fear and excitement teenagers, men and women are inexplicably drawn towards scary games to play.”

There are, of course, plenty of games that seek to titillate the human psyche and provide entertainment to all and sundry. It must be said though that while playing horror games, one needs to exercise caution. In case you do not have a strong frame of mind it is difficult to compose one-self. These games to play can be extremely time-consuming and addictive if they strike the right chord of the player. On an average 30 to 50 hours can be easily consumed by playing such a game. It is not only a good and exciting way of passing time, but also, in an odd way teaches the player to face adverse situations. A problem with all Scary Games, though, is that the bond with the game is broken and the concentration level re-achieved every time that game has to be replayed.

“Good scary games should try to cajole the gamer to return to the site whenever free. The online horror games industry would mature if they emphasize on a great script instead of only graphics and bloodshed. It is up to the makers to make these games more interesting by adding a plot and interesting twists and turns instead of only gory scenes of destruction and evil being the order of the day,” says Andrew.

999 – A Horror Visual Novel

Posted by: | Comments (0)

Aksys Games, a publisher of interactive entertainment products, has announced the horror visual novel, Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors, for the Nintendo DS.

Description: Junpei, a fairly normal college student finds himself involved in a deadly conspiracy that he couldn’t have possibly imagined. He awakes aboard an old passenger ferry. Dazed and confused, he stumbles around the room trying to reclaim his memories. First thing he notices is a number roughly drawn on the cabin’s door … A bright red number 5.

Junpei’s memory then returns and he remembers what had happened right before he lost consciousness. A mysterious person, wearing a gas mask, said, “I’m gonna make you play the game … the ‘Nonary Game’… the game of life or death.”

“We’ve decided to call 999 an ‘Adventure’ game,” says Ben Bateman, Vocalization Editor, Aksys Games, “but I don’t really feel that’s entirely accurate. 999 is a game that simulates life, or at least it would if your life was about being trapped on a sinking ship and forced to complete a series of incomprehensible puzzles before your practically inevitable death. It is about relationships, and how they will ultimately kill you. There is also some blood, and an ax, so if you’ve always wanted some blood and an ax in your life, there you go. But what really brings 999 to life are the people who inhabit it. You will learn to care for them; to feel as though you are there and they are your friends, and then they will die because you made the wrong choices. Just like in real life.”

Key Features

Nine Hours
You only have 9 hours before Junpei and the other 8 kidnapped drown. Numerology, music composition and logic puzzles are just a few of the 32 + obstacles that stand in the way of their freedom. You must use everything in your environment and personal experience to get out!

Nine Persons
Uncover the mystery surrounding the lives of the 9 captive characters and how their blurry pasts reveal a disturbing future. Help all the characters escape but beware! A wrong decision or careless mistake might put their lives in jeopardy. Experience all 6 + endings that are determined by the way you play!

Nine Doors
Each hostage is cursed with a digital watch that displays their special number. These numbers are the keys to unlocking the 9 doors. Explore your surrounding for clues to unlock the next door by picking up and examining objects in the different environments. Create new tools by combining like objects to get out of dangerous situations and deadly door puzzles.
