You may know the names of Ed and Lorraine Warren as the demon-fighting power-couple featured in the Conjuring movies. As it turns out, the Perron house and the Enfield haunting are just the tip of the iceberg in the Warren’s long career as paranormal investigators — they’ve published several accounts of their various otherworldly experiences over the years. Graveyard, which they authored along with the help of Robert David Chase, focuses on the spooky happenings in and around Union Cemetery, a burial ground not too far from where the couple once lived in Monroe, Connecticut.
The first half of Graveyard details some first-hand accounts, both from the Warren’s and others who sought out their help. The tales vary from the old legend of the Woman in White, to other restless spirits – some seeking assistance in crossing over, others hellbent on revenge. Some photographic “evidence” of paranormal activity is also included in the book, but the quality of the black and white photos make it difficult to decipher what’s in them let alone any ghostly figures.
The second half of the book is dedicated to other hauntings and stories that the Warren’s have either investigated or been privy to hearing about. All concern themselves with the same nature of the stories from Union Cemetery, from spirits with unfinished business to some good, old fashioned demons.
For fans of the Warrens and who believe in the paranormal, Graveyard is a great read. Though the prose is far from spectacular, the jist of every story is enough to make you sleep with the lights on.
