APS Films has announced the next screening of Zack Wilcox’s Hunting Lands at the 19th Annual Newport Beach Film Festival. Set and shot in the backdrop of a Midwestern winter, the film follows a group of exciting young actors on a collision course with each other and destiny. Since the world premiere at this year’s Cinequest VR & Film Festival, Hunting Lands has picked up Best Screenplay and Best Picture at Idyllwild International Festival of Cinema and screened at the Beverly Hills Film Festival. Hunting Lands will screen during the Newport Beach Film Festival at The Lot in Fashion Island on April 30th and May 3rd.
Marshall Cook (Division III: Football’s Finest), Joe Raffa (You’ll Know My Name), and Keyna Reynolds (Moving Parts) headline the cast as three residents of a forgotten village over a life-changing 72 hours. Zack Wilcox directed from a script he wrote, alongside cinematographer and executive producer Edwin Stevens (HBO’s The Defiant Ones).
Reclusive veteran Frank Olsen yearns to escape from the complexities of the modern world. Unfortunately, despite his efforts, the world comes looking for him. When he discovers a discarded, beaten woman fighting for her life in the snow, Frank must decide whether to continue to turn his back on society or confront the world he loathes.
