The Baja Arizona Science Fiction Association has invited author Weston Ochse to be their Guest of Honor for the 36th running of TusCon, dubbed “The Best Little Sci-Fi, Fantasy and Horror Convention in Arizona.” Previous GoHs include Theodore Sturgeon, Vernor Vinge, Karl Edward Wagner, Diana Gabaldon, John Ringo, Laurel K. Hamilton, and Stephen R. Donaldson. Begun in 1974, TusCon has a rich history of supporting the interests of fans, authors, artists, librarians, booksellers and gamers in Tucson and the Southwest.

Convention Particulars: this year’s convention will be held November 13-15, 2009 at the InnSuites Hotel in Tucson, Arizona. Last year found the weather in the low 80s, with convention goers swimming in the Olympic-sized pool, drinking and conversing beneath the fronds of palm trees. Not a bad way to spend a fall weekend. In addition to regular convention programming, TusCon has a dealer’s room, an art show, a gaming room and a ConSuite where food and drinks are served to convention goers. A breakfast buffet is included in the room rate, as is a free happy hour every evening.

Start Time: Friday, November 13 at 5:00pm
End Time: Sunday, November 15 at 6:10pm

Hotel Info: Per night rates are $69 (studio room), $79 (2-room suite or kitchenette) & $89 for a Jacuzzi suite. Be sure to mention “TusCon Science Fiction Convention” to get these rates. Also please call, instead of using the website, for reservations so we get credit for the room nights. Our room block expires on 10/12/2009, so reserve your room early! As a courtesy to our members, the hotel will extend convention rates for 3 nights before and/or after the actual convention dates.

Memberships are $35 through 5/5, $40 through 9/1, then $45 after that and at the door. One-days are $20/35/15 for Fri/Sat/Sun. Children (ages 3-12) are 1/2 current adult rates.
