Synopsis: Turtleshell Mountain is supposed to be the Most Joyous Place on Earth. That’s what Tess Cameron is counting on when she invites all of her friends there for the weekend. Tess has a secret, a good secret, and she can’t think of any better place to share it with the people she loves most.

But Turtleshell Mountain has its own secrets. Something has awakened inside of the park. Something scarier than any ride. It won’t be long before Tess and her friends are the only people left alive in Turtleshell Mountain…

And that’s when the nightmare will really begin.

In The Terror at Turtleshell Mountain, Sean McDonough gives us a new take on the idea of a theme park gone wrong. Closer to a park such as Disney and unlike, say, that of the Jurassic kind, this ‘Most Joyous Place on Earth’ is about to become anything but! Not quite the best place for Tess Cameron to give her friends some of the best news of her life when they go for a visit.

Cameron has brought four of her best friends from the police force to share her great news about the cancer which she’s been inflicted with and at the other end of the park we see a pastor who has brought eighteen children to the park to enjoy a day of fun.

Sounds like the beginning of a fun day, until the park quite literally comes alive and the rides start bringing an end to the lives of park goers. No one is safe as the story progresses. If you are a fan of George R.R. Martin’s blatant killing of characters that you’ve grown to enjoy then this will be a book you shouldn’t wait to pick up. Not everyone who gets developed is going to make it out of this one alive as we head towards a pretty large body count right from the get go.

An absolutely fun thrill ride, the only time you are taken out of the action is during flashbacks to the Park’s past, which are, of course, important to the events that we’re reading. Both a tale of survival and a mystery of what is behind this theme park gone bad, you’ll be hooked from start to finish as you try to find out not only what is going on but who will survive to the bitter end!
