Noctem Aeternus will publish the first issue of its new quarterly PDF magazine on January 1, 2008. The first issue will feature an original tale (and interview) from legendary writer Ramsey Campbell. Additional writers, artists, and contributors will be listed on the magazine’s webpage as they’re signed.
Noctem Aeternus will feature high-quality horror fiction, reviews, interviews, etc. “We’re looking for horror stories with a solid plot, strong character development, and attention to detail. Stories should also grab the reader’s attention quickly and hold it until the end. Although a good story can include gore, we don’t want gore for gore’s sake,” says Michael Knost, the magazine’s editor. “We’re looking for great horror stories. Stories can be about monsters, the paranormal, serial killers, or anything else that evokes fear. Science fiction, mystery, western, or fantasy elements are acceptable, however, there should be no doubt the story is horror.”
Sumissions will open June 1, 2007. Do not submit before this date. Payment will be ten-cents per word on publication. No reprints. Maximum story length is 4,000 words. Please, no multiple or simultaneous submissions. Open year round for reading. E-mail submissions only. Send submissions or inquiries to: Noctem Aeternus
“Stories with vampires, werewolves, or other cliched horror topics will be a hard sell,” says Knost. However, if you think you have a tale that brings something original to a cliched topic, then send it along – just keep in mind, it will have a slim chance.”

Dear Noctem,
At last! Perhaps a fresh breath of noxious air in horror fiction.
Ramsey Campbell’s story as a first issue offering is superb. He, more than any other writer, has made me see the endless possibilities around me when it comes to writing atmospheric tales.
