Description: In the Dutch settlement of Tarry Town, in the secluded glen called Sleepy Hollow we hear the tale of Ichabod Crane – a lean, lanky, and extremely superstitious schoolmaster from Connecticut, who competes with Abraham “Brom Bones” Van Brunt, for the affections of Katrina Van Tassel, the daughter of a wealthy farmer, Baltus Van Tassel. As Crane leaves a dance he attended at the Van Tassel home one autumn night, he is pursued by the Headless Horseman, the ghost of a Hessian trooper who’s head was shot off by a stray cannonball during “some nameless battle” of the American Revolutionary War, and who “rides forth to the scene of battle in nightly quest of his head”
This audio adaptation stays true to Irving’s original vision with only minor changes in dialogue. The Audio Drama has the same feel and style of the classic Old Time Radio shows. Script adaptation by Jim O’Rear. Directed and produced by Kevin Herren. Recorded in part at In Fidelity Recordings, Los Angeles California.
