Shriekfest, now in its “lucky” thirteenth year, was created in July 2001 by Denise Gossett and has grown into the longest-running and one of the largest horror and sci-fi film festivals in the country. Recently MovieMaker Magazine and it’s readers voted Shriekfest as one of the Coolest Film Festivals in the WORLD and in the top 5 Coolest Horror/SciFi Film Festivals in the WORLD. Festival Director Denise Gossett says “We are so honored that a wonderful magazine such as MovieMaker Magazine has recognized us in this way, thank you! Shriekfest had received several awards from MovieMaker Magazine through the years including “Top 13 Film Festivals to Die For” in 2011 and “25 Film Festivals Worth the Entry Fee” in 2010. LA WEEKLY also voted Shriekfest “LA’s Most Successful & Entertaining Horror Film Festival”! Shortly after that festival director Denise Gossett was voted number “5 out of 13 Most Influential Women In Horror History”.
