The next Fantastic Fiction at KGB reading series, hosted by Ellen Datlow and Matthew Kressel, will present Catherynne M. Valente, author of over a dozen works of fiction and poetry, including Palimpsest, the Orphan’s Tales series, and The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Own Making. She is the winner of the Tiptree Award, the Mythopoeic Award, the Andre Norton Award, the Rhysling Award, and the Million Writers Award. She is a finalist for the Hugo Award this year. Over the next year she has three novels and a short story collection coming out, as well as short stories in Welcome to Bordertown, Haunted Legends, and the YA vampire anthology Teeth. She’ll be reading from her upcoming novel Deathless.

Also reading will be M.K. Hobson, the author of over thirty short stories, which have been published or are forthcoming in magazines and anthologies such as SCI FICTION, Realms of Fantasy, The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction, Strange Horizons, Postscripts, Interzone, Digital Domains, Haunted Legends, and Polyphony. Her debut novel, The Native Star will be out from Bantam Spectra in September, to be followed by a sequel in the summer 2011. She is one of the co-hosts of Podcastle and is a regular reader for Fantasy Magazine’s podcast series.

It’s all happening on Wednesday July 21st, 7:00pm, at KGB Bar, 85 East 4th Street (just off 2nd Ave, upstairs.) The readings are free.

In the meantime, Ellen Datlow has posted photos online from the June 16, KGB reading with Jack Ketchum and Scott Edelman. You can see what a great time it was for everyone here: June 16, KGB Reading
