Monster Under the Bed
by Terrie Leigh Relf
“Mommy—the monster’s back!” Sammi scooted up against the headboard, knocking several books to the floor with a thump.
“THERE’S A MONSTER UNDER MY BED!” She screamed, then paused to listen.
Nothing.
Sammi clambered to the floor, lifted the bedspread. “You can come out now. She’s not coming.”
The monster slithered out, coiling an immense tail behind Sammi before resting its huge snout on her lap. She stroked its silvery scales as it gazed at her with doleful eyes.
“I know I promised to feed you,” she cooed. “We’ll come up with another way to get my mom down here.”
