Submission Guidelines

Delirium Books Editor: Shane Ryan Staley
E-mail: [email protected]

With the increasing popularity of its HC chapbook line, Delirium Books is now taking submissions for a new hardcover chapbook anthology series called Horror D’oeuvers. The fiction in this series will consist of original flash fiction (short-shorts) that serve as an appetizer for horror readers, a small bite of horror served between bigger reads. These Horror D’oeuvres will first appear online at The Delirium Insider and then be printed as a mass market-sized (4.5 x 6.25 inch) side-sewn hardcover with graphic wraparound cover.

FICTION: Original fiction only. We’re looking for short-short stories no longer than 750 words. Words will be counted before acceptance. All types of horror will be accepted. Do not submit fiction from any other genre. No poetry. No prose that is formatted like poetry.

SUBMISSIONS: Electronic only. Stories must be cut and pasted within the body of an e-mail and sent to the address above. IMPORTANT: Stories submitted to any other e-mail address will be discarded unread. Please include word count, name and address within the e-mail. No attached files please. If accepted, files will be requested in MS Word or RTF formats. No simultaneous submissions. PLEASE SUBMIT ONLY 1 STORY PER REVIEW (if you get a reject notice, you may submit another story at that time). Multiple story submissions will be discarded upon receipt.

RESPONSE TIME: 2 months or less. Due to the amount of submissions expected and the editor’s involvement in Delirium’s limited edition horror book line, form rejections will be sent out.

PAYMENT: Five cents per word on publication in The Delirium Insider plus 1 copy of the book upon its publication.

RIGHTS: Electronic and print rights for 1 year from respective publications. All rights return to author after 1 year.
