Diablo Cody To Produce Breathers

Fox Searchlight has acquired rights to the upcoming zombie romantic comedy novel Breathers: A Zombie’s Lament by S.G. Browne, which Jennifer’s Body writer Diablo Cody will produce, Variety reported.

The film will mark Cody’s third collaboration with the specialty label following Juno and the upcoming Megan Fox vehicle Jennifer’s Body, which Cody also executive-produced. It comes out Sept. 18.

Breathers centers on a recently deceased Everyman and newly minted zombie who is having trouble adjusting to his new existence. All that changes when he goes to an Undead Anonymous meeting and finds kindred souls. Broadway will publish the book March 3.

Mason Novick is also producing, and Geoff Latulippe will adapt.
