life-trackerOlive Films, a small company dedicated to bringing independent, foreign, and classic films to live, announced that the film Life Tracker (2013) [received] its first ever DVD/Blu-ray release on January 19th, 2016, in a never-before-seen Director’s Cut.

“This is a very inventive and original take on the genre that is well worth checking out,” said Marketing Director Bradley Powell. “We hope that this release will allow Life Tracker to receive the attention it deserves from the passionate community of Sci-Fi fans.”

The film marks a new talent to watch in writer/director Joe McClean, whose passion for the genre demonstrates itself through the film’s premise and countless allusions to Science Fiction greats. Notably, it successfully uses the found footage style to achieve something special, as the audience experiences the main character becoming a more confident filmmaker. To create this illusion, they filmed using five different cameras, emphasized by different aspect ratios, even when shooting in full 16:9.

Life Tracker examines the premise of a tech company called Life Tracker that announces their newfound ability to analyze a person’s DNA, and in doing so, predict one’s future. This revelation piques the interest of amateur documentary filmmaker Dillon Smith (Barry Finnegan, Forever MidnightBlackout), who sees this discovery as the ideal subject for his next film, with help from his friend Scott (Matt Dallas, TV’s Kyle XY) and Scott’s girlfriend Bell (Rebecca Marshall, Saw 3D: The Final Chapter).

An intriguing scandal and ethical dilemma arise in the film, as they start to wonder just how much information is too much, and how much information about their futures Life Tracker and the U.S. government are willing to release to people. This proves to be the dramatic crux of Life Tracker, as it explores that very question and more, packaging a philosophical debate within an exciting Sci-Fi thriller.
