The American Cinematheque presents Halloween Horror at the Aero and Egyptian Theatres. The Blood Is The Life – Vampires On Film And A Dusk-To-Dawn Horrorthon will take place October 25 – 28 at the Aero Theatre and a Halloween night screening of Ghostbusters in 70 MM is scheduled at the Egyptian Theatre. At the Aero, a selection of vampire films will be shown, including Hammer’s Horror of Dracula and Brides of Dracula, Roman Polanski’s rousing spoof The Fearless Vampire Killers, Bela Lugosi’s 1940’s vampiric encore Return of The Vampire (for all intents and purposes, a Dracula film in everything-except-name) and Joel Schumacher’s atmospheric, tongue-in-cheek pastiche, The Lost Boys.

The closing night is an old-fashioned, all-night horrorthon, with six chilling, crowd-pleasing sagas of zombies and bloodthirsty spirits, including the original Night of The Living Dead, Re-Animator, House By The Cemetery, great classic horror trailers and more! The horrorthon is sponsored by the Charles N. Mathewson Foundation, Wild Oats and Le Marmiton. Breakfast will be served to all those who make it through the night!

On October 31st, along with a 70 MM screening of Ivan Reitman’s Ghostbusters, you can eet the legendary (nearly 90-year-old) founder of Famous Monsters Magazine, Forrest J. Ackerman who will sign his new “monsterography” Classic Universal Monsters along with David Marchant, author of Monsterific. Screenings are at the Lloyd E. Rigler Theatre at the historic 1922 Egyptian (6712 Hollywood Boulevard between Highland and Las Palmas) in Hollywood and/or at the Max Palevsky Theatre at the Aero Theatre (1328 Montana Ave) in Santa Monica. Tickets are available online at: Fandango
