Dennis Latham’s short story collection, Sudden Victims, was released this summer and is still available. There are eighteen stories in all, bringing readers tales of ghosts and demons, killers and warriors, the psychotic and the suicidal, the good, the bad, the innocent and the tormented. Published by YS Gazelle, Sudden Victims covers a vast landscape of characters and situations. Quite cleverly, the stories are wrapped within a story that takes the readers from one to the other, during a trip on a night train. Overall, the collection is a bit uneven, some stories a little flat, others mesmerizing. However, it does make for a fast read.
