The Toronto Specfic Colloquium “Modern Mythologies” returns for its second year on October 15, 2011 The Colloquium features talks from major science fiction, fantasy, and horror authors with Guest of Honour Mike Carey.

What: The Aurora Award nominated Toronto SpecFic Colloquium is a one-day event featuring a series of lectures which will consider the importance of the stories that define humanity in the present age from the aliens hiding among us to the gates of Hell ripping open in our backyards. Current guests include authors Mike Carey, Peter Watts, Daniel Heath Justice, and Lesley Livingston and industry professionals.

Canadian speculative fiction (science fiction, fantasy, and horror) writing has been recognized internationally for the caliber of its authors. At their best, these books provide glimpses of alternate realities and possible futures and pasts that provoke an ethical, social, political, environmental and biological inquiry into what it means to be human. The theme for the 2011 Toronto SpecFic Colloquium is “Modern Mythologies.”
