Lopez will be discussing his current and upcoming projects including his cover art and co-writing for the fantasy comic the Legend of the Knyghtmare. He will also discuss future issues of Forsaken Stars, “Solum [Perceptum]” a science-fiction short story and “The Beast of Woadsbury,” an illustrated fantasy story for the FSFWs 2012 Anthology, as well as his upcoming participation in the Comic Creators for Freedom 2012 fund drive to fight Human Trafficking. Lopez will be selling prints of his art, sketching his characters — which include vampires, robots and mermaids — and taking attendee requests. Some of his work will also be included in the event’s raffle which will include prizes such as books, gift certificates and art.

The Fresno Sci-Fi & Fantasy Writers — established at their first meeting April, 19th 2008 — is a group for local writers that meet and discuss their work. They published their first anthology, I Dreamed A Crooked Dream, November 11, 2010. Lopez joined soon after, and says of the group, “their support, encouragement and critiques have been invaluable to my work.” The FSFW is currently laying the groundwork for its 2012 Anthology and Lopez is excited about the project, admires his collaborators deeply and is thrilled to be counted as one of its passionate architects.

Other featured guests and members of the FSFW include Roh Morgon, author of the urban fantasy novel Watcher, Christopher Wood, Jim Geiser and Melanie and E.A.J. Smith, authors of the FSFW 2010 Anthology I Dreamed a Crooked Dream, and Tirzah Duncan, the youngest member and a winner of National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) for Ever Actor, her first novel, due out sometime next year.
