Hunger

by A.R. Thomas

Hunger.  It’s with me all the time.  I can’t remember when it wasn’t part of me, guiding me, forcing me to do things I didn’t want to.  It’s not my fault.  Really, it isn’t.

Well, maybe just a little.  Dad told me not to mess with anything when I visited him at his lab.  I just thought I’d catch a buzz.  I didn’t think this would happen.  Well, he can’t fuss at me now, can he.

Look, I’m sorry about your family.  It’s just that I’m so hungry.  You’ll know.  After all, you’ll be joining me.  Once you wake up.
