Finale

by Lori R. Lopez

The shadow had its own mind, and that mind had an appetite.  Pausing on the verge of sunlit grass, the darkness drooled like a hungry tiger at bare gleaming flesh in shorts or skirts, slip-on sandals.  It cared nothing for style and beauty, only of filling murky hollow depths.  And so it crept to feed upon the audience packed before an outdoor stage.  Young smiling women didn’t notice the shady licks tasting ankles.  Their expressions altered when umbral teeth sank into the meat of calves.  A chorus of screams blended with raucous Metal notes and cheers.  Fans to the end.
