Betsy, a small-town waitress, offers a warm meal to an enigmatic drifter in a rundown diner. Little does she know she’s let a vicious and calculative werewolf loose on the diner’s colorful population.
That’s literally all there is to End of the Road, an eleven-minute short from newcomer director J. Spencer. If you’re looking for a new take on the werewolf trope, it would be best to look elsewhere – there’s the typical full moon, the mysterious and untrustworthy stranger, and a restaurant full of tasty human snacks – but before you do move on, considering giving this short film a shot.
Why?
Because it’s so. Much. Damn. Fun.
End of the Road is a visual delight – from the buckets of blood to the awesome design of the creature, this short has the potential of a full-length feature (and you’ll wish it was after watching). The gore isn’t overly excessive though, but there’s enough to whet your appetite. Even the acting (which is usually hit-or-miss in low-budget shorts) is spot on.
If you happen to stumble across this gem, do yourself a favour: take 11 minutes and give it a watch; it’s absolutely worth it. End of the Road is a horror short done right.
