American Vampire, the new comic series written by Stephen King and Scott Snyder with artwork by Rafael Albuquerque and published by Vertigo Comics, is scheduled for an October 5th release.

Description: When notorious outlaw Skinner Sweet is attacked by an old enemy (who happens to be a member of the undead), the first American vampire is born … a vampire powered by the sun, stronger, fiercer and meaner than anything that came before. Pearl Jones is a struggling young actress in 1920’s Los Angeles. But when her big break brings her face-to-face with an ancient evil, her Hollywood dream quickly turns into a brutal, shocking nightmare.

This is the beginning of an epic new series, spanning decades and generations, and it all begins here.

Here’s the trailer …

“One of the things that happens when you write something like this is the themes start to suggest themselves. No matter what format you’re working in, whether it’s short stories, novels, or comics, you oughta be writing about something or you’re wasting your time,” King says. “And it seemed to me that this was about time, and how we get older. I loved the whole concept of the vampire—the most attractive thing about it is that you never age.”
