The next Fantastic Fiction at KGB reading series get together, hosted by Ellen Datlow and Matthew Kressel, will present Katherine Vaz. Vaz has been a Fellow in Fiction at Harvard University and has published two novels, Saudade and Mariana, translated into six languages and selected by the Library of Congress as one of the Top 30 International Books of 1998. Her collection Fado & Other Stories won the Drue Heinz Literature Prize and Our Lady of the Artichokes (1999) won the Prairie Schooner Book Prize. She’s a Radcliffe Fellow and recipient of a National 2000 Endowment for the Arts Award and has published short fiction in numerous magazines.
Also reading will be Geoff Ryman, whose new collection of short stories Paradise Tales has recently been published by Small Beer. A new long short story “What We Found” is due out soon in Fantasy and Science Fiction. His stories, novels and anthologies have won 14 awards including the Arthur C Clarke Award, the John W Campbell Memorial Award, the Tiptree and the Dick awards. His novels include The Child Garden and Was, both to be re-issued in new editions by Small Beer Press.
It’s all happening on Wednesday July 20th, 7:00pm at KGB Bar, 85 East 4th Street (just off 2nd Ave, upstairs.)

On Friday July 22nd, from 7:00pm – 9:00pm there will be readings from Supernatural Noir at KGB. Hosted by editor Ellen Datlow, the following contributors will be reading from their stories:
Paul G. Tremblay – the author of the novels The Little Sleep and No Sleep Till Wonderland, and his short fiction has been collected in In the Mean Time and Compositions for the Young and Old.
Jeffrey Ford – the author of the novels The Physiognomy, Memoranda, The Beyond, The Portrait of Mrs. Charbuque, The Girl in the Glass, and The Shadow Year. His short fiction has been published in three collections. His fiction has won The World Fantasy Award, The Nebula Award, The Edgar Allan Poe Award, and Gran Prix de l’Imaginaire.
Richard Bowes – Richard Bowes has written five novels, two short fiction collections and fifty short stories. He has won two World Fantasy Awards and the Lambda, International Horror Guild, and Million Writers Awards. His novel-in-progress is Dust Devil: My Life in Speculative Fiction.
Gregory Frost – his latest work is the fantasy duology, Shadowbridge and Lord Tophet. His earlier novels include Fitcher’s Brides, a World Fantasy Award and International Horror Guild Award finalist for Best Novel; Tain, Lyrec, and Nebula-nominated sf work The Pure Cold Light. His short story collection, Attack of the Jazz Giants & Other Stories was called by Publishers Weekly “one of the best fantasy collections of the year.”
John Langan – the author of the novel House of Windows and the collection of stories Mr. Gaunt and Other Uneasy Encounters. His stories have appeared in The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction and Poe: 19 New Tales Inspired by Edgar Allan Poe.

On Monday, July 18th, from 7:00pm – 9:00pm, New York City’s famed literary establishment, the KGB Bar, will host Dark Visions: An Evening of Horror. Participating in this highly anticipated reading and signing event are:
Chesya Burke has published over forty short stories in various publications including Dark Dreams: Horror and Suspense by Black Writers, Voices From the Other Side, and Whispers in the Night, each published by Kensington Publishing Corp.; the historical, science and speculative fiction magazine, Would That It Were and many more. Several of her articles appeared in the African American National Biography published by Harvard and Oxford University Press and she won the 2004 Twilight Tales award for short fiction. Her short story collection, “Let’s Play White,” debuted earlier this year and was published by APEX Books and was blurbed by Nikki Giovanni and Samuel Delany.
Nicholas Kaufmann is the Bram Stoker Award-, Shirley Jackson Award-, and Thriller Award-nominated author of Chasing the Dragon (ChiZine Publications), General Slocum’s Gold (Burning Effigy Press), Hunt at World’s End (as Gabriel Hunt, Leisure Books), and the collection Walk in Shadows (Prime Books). His fiction has appeared in Cemetery Dance, The Mammoth Book of Best New Erotica 3, City Slab, The Best American Erotica 2007, Playboy and others. His non-fiction has appeared in On Writing Horror (Writers Digest Books), Dark Scribe Magazine, Annabelle Magazine, Fantastic Metropolis, Hellnotes and others.
