Fangoria is reporting that Vancouver-based Brightlight Pictures has optioned Headhunter, the first novel by horror author Michael Slade. Patrick Lussier has been signed to direct, and Wil Zmak will pen the adaptation. “This is a dream project with a dream team,” Williamson says. “Headhunter is a masterpiece of the psycho-thriller genre, an international success, and it’s a Canadian phenomenon.” The novel focuses on the exploits of the killer, who leaves a series of headless female corpses stewn about Vancouver. Slade, the pen name of a trio of criminal lawyers/writers, has written a series of grisly horror thrillers including Ghoul, Cutthroat, Hangman, Ripper and Swastika, with Kamikaze coming in November from Signet.
