Authors Joe R. Lansdale, Kage Baker and Rudy Rucker, along with Richard Bottoms, CEO of SteamPowered Events, inc., were present for a special Steampunk-themed Litquake reading at the Variety Preview Room of San Francisco on October 9. The event was organized as part of “SF in SF,” a series of monthly science fiction readings organized by author Terry Bisson and sponsored by Tachyon Publications, publishers of the Steampunk anthology.

Lansdale read from his novel Flaming London and Rucker read from his novel The Hollow Earth. Baker read from a steampunk-inspired short story to be published in an upcoming anthology and Bottoms spoke on the steampunk genre.
