This bit of audio (there’s video over on youtube as well) has actually been surfacing for some time, but a buddy of mine recently responded in staggering fashion when I told him of King’s forthcoming sequel to The Shining, Doctor Sleep. To say that he became outright giddy when I let him know that fans could actually hear King himself read an excerpt from the novel’s first chapter, would be an extreme understatement. Horror Channel celebrates the Great Horror Novels Of Ketchum, King, Burgess and Barker – Horror Channel celebrates the pen behind the poison with FROM PAGE TO SCREAM – a season of films with literary origins from some of the most talented authors in the genre: Clive Barker, Stephen King, Jack Ketchum and Tony Burgess.
The Kickstand: Horror in Black and White – One of the great things about Kickstarter is it can provide a platform for really interesting stories that are so far out of the mainstream that they might never find an audience through the traditional channels. “Flesh of White,” by Erica Heflin and Amanda Rachels, is just that type of project; it’s a horror story about an albino child born in Tanzania, where people with albinism are regarded as ghost – and are sometimes killed so their bodies can be used for magical purposes. They use this real-world situation as the setting for their story, which is a conflict among individuals. I talked to Heflin and Rachels about why they chose this particular subject, how they researched it and how they are using Kickstarter as a platform to publish it.
Todd Keisling Talks The Monochrome and … Reality TV – Todd Keisling made my “Top 10 New Authors” list, so you can go ahead and make an assumption: I think the world of the man’s work. He’s clever, refined and legitimately creative. That’s a combination we don’t often see, so when a talent of this nature comes along, I pay close attention. This rising star agreed to be subjected to an assortment of interesting questions, and I must say: the man delivers in his answers. There isn’t much beating around the bush here, just a look at Todd, his writing, his future and what waits in the world of the Monochrome.
HNR Writing Contest! Submit Your Best Monster Themed Story, Win $100 & a Marquee Feature – Here’s the gist: HorrorNovelReviews wants to read your best monster story, but it’s got to be short. I will personally read each and every submission, narrow the field to five front-runners, and recruit the voices of two additional published authors to get their opinions and votes. The winner, as noted, will see his or her story featured in the first slide of the front page marquee for 30 days in addition to banking the $100 prize money.
