September 3rd & 4th at 7:30 PM the Aero Theatre will present Ghostly Evenings of Paranormal Activity. Thursday night’s double feature will be Poltergeist and The Legend Of Hell House.

Poltergeist, 1982, Warner Bros., 114 min. Dir. Tobe Hooper. The Freeling family’s normal life is shattered when malevolent forces kidnap 5-year-old Carol Anne (Heather O’Rourke), forcing her desperate parents to seek assistance from a team of academic ghost hunters and a wacky psychic dwarf. With Craig T. Nelson, JoBeth Williams, Dominique Dunne, Beatrice Straight, Zelda Rubenstein.

The Legend Of Hell House, 1973, 20th Century Fox, 95 min. Dir. John Hough. Four researchers gather at a haunted house and quickly find themselves under siege by malevolent spirits. Roddy McDowall and Pamela Franklin star in this eerie horror film, scripted by Richard Matheson from his novel Hell House.

Friday night’s double feature will be Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II, with a discussion between the films with director Ivan Reitman (schedule permitting).

Ghostbusters, 1984, Sony Repertory, 105 min. Dir. Ivan Reitman. Parapsychologists Bill Murray, Harold Ramis and Dan Aykroyd start Ghostbusters, a company that traps ghosts, spirits and other supernatural specters for money. Business starts to pick up when Sigourney Weaver notices strange phenomena in her apartment’s kitchen, such as eggs frying themselves. When the situation escalates, the Ghostbusters are called upon to save the Big Apple.

Ghostbusters II, 1989, Sony Repertory, 108 min. Dir. Ivan Reitman. The entire original cast (including Bill Murray, Sigourney Weaver, Harold Ramis and Dan Aykroyd) returns for this anything-goes sequel. This time the guys begin as washed-up has-beens, but they’re called back into action when “bad vibes” accumulate in the city’s sewer system. Rick Moranis, Ernie Hudson and Annie Potts also return.

But there’s more! Saturday, September 12th at 7:30 PM, director Don Coscarelli, along with actors Angus Scrimm, Reggie Bannister, Kat Lester and Bill Thornbury, will appear in person with a Phantasm I, II, III Triple Feature.

Phantasm, 1979, 88 min. Don Coscarelli burst onto the scene with his first horror film, an eerie and totally original cult classic. Two brothers discover that something evil lurks within their neighborhood cemetery and soon find themselves battling the Tall Man, one of the scariest villains in horror history, played to masterful effect by Angus Scrimm.

Phantasm II, 1988, Universal, 97 min. Dir. Don Coscarelli. The Tall Man returns in this bigger-budgeted studio sequel to Phantasm, in which James LeGros joins series regular Reggie Bannister as he takes on Angus Scrimm. This film contains all the energy and originality of the first, but with bigger resources and wilder set-pieces.

Phantasm III: Lord Of The Dead, 1994, 91 min. Director Don Coscarelli’s third time out helming the saga of the Tall Man is another assault of flying silver spheres and stolen corpses.
