Sew Me Up

by Bethaney Nielsen

The pressure in my chest was heavy with a burning sensation as it travelled down wards, stopping just above my pelvis. My body felt like clammy dead weight. To my right, I could hear the rattling of metal, followed by something soggy.

I opened my eyes, above me stood a man with a look of terror.

Forcing myself to sit up, I was surprised when my intestines fell into my lap.

The man suddenly found his feet and run for the door.

‘Hey!’ I yelled ‘get back here and sew me up.’

The sign above the door read ‘City Morgue’.
