One by one the babies disappeared. Mothers wailed and wallowed in their grief. Fathers raged against an unknown enemy. Brothers and sisters asked unanswerable questions.

Who took the babies? And why? And, what was being done to them?

The horror of their thoughts, the darkness of their imagination broke most parents. It was an unrelenting nightmare.

What they didn’t know was that the King of the fairy-folk had been murdered, and that there was a new Queen. Who hated humans.

And she proclaimed, under penalty of death, no more replacing.
