PadWorx Digital Media, Inc., an independent developer of a new category of interactive eBooks for tablet PCs, has announced its interactive eBook Dracula: The Official Stoker Family Edition will contain hidden ‘easter eggs’ that will give readers the chance to experience the text of Bram Stoker’s classic novel in a stunning, immersive way. Besides the carefully abridged text of the original 1897 novel, Dracula: The Official Stoker Family Edition will also include several rare historical images as well as audio and film from the earliest days of the Dracula legacy. Some of the images, including Mr. Stoker’s signature on a ledger from 1888, have never been seen by the public and have been provided to PadWorx by the Stoker family estate.

“PadWorx’s interactive version of Dracula brings Bram Stoker’s classic story to life in a new and thrilling way,” said Dacre Stoker, great grand-nephew, author, and spokesperson for the Stoker family. “Bram was progressive for his time. When he wrote Dracula he included references to a camera, phonograph, and typewriter – cutting edge technologies for his day. We think Bram would be delighted to see his famous work offered to twenty-first century audiences via the iPad. PadWorx is one of our most innovative licensees and we were pleased to share some rare, never-before-seen imagery as part of this incredible interactive reading experience.”

Dracula: The Official Stoker Family Edition is the first in a series of new interactive eBooks created for Apple iPad by PadWorx Digital Media Inc. Built from the ground up on PadWorx’s proprietary game engine, this revolutionary vision of what an eBook should be puts a new twist on the classic novel written by Bram Stoker in 1897 and features almost 300 pages of text, animation, gameplay-like elements, and touch screen technology that creates the definitive interactive, user-driven experience. From lighting up the words of the page with a lantern, unsealing the mysteries of letters and journal entries, blowing the leaves off of tombstones to reveal the writing beneath, and even using their own “blood” to reveal hidden text on a page, readers will bring the book to life page after enthralling page.

Dracula: The Official Stoker Family Edition will also feature an original soundtrack as well as 21 songs from indie rock performers Adaline, Eve and the Ocean, Emily Spiller, Phoebe Sharp, and Christa Couture. Each song will set the tone for a different chapter from the book, creating a whole new way of experiencing this classic story.

Dracula: The Official Stoker Family Edition will be available on the App Store® the week of October 18, 2010. Pricing details will be released at a later date.
