Dean Koontz, the Spotlight speaker at the San Diego Comicon Convention, entertained a sold-out crowd of fans on Saturday, July 26. Comicon expected a crowd of 125,000 to attend the most successful convention for “pop culture” today. At Comicon, Dean celebrated the publication by the Dabel Brothers of the comic book series based on his first two Frankenstein novels and the publication by Del Rey Books of his first manga graphic novel about one of his favorite characters, Odd Thomas.

The first two comic issues in the Frankenstein Book 1 series sold out almost as soon as they hit comic book stores across the country. Additional issues are being published each month. Every six issues will be compiled in graphic novel form as well. The manga “prequel” to Dean’s on-going series of Odd Thomas novels, which is introducing new fans to Oddie, has already gone back to press twice since it’s publication date.
