The Egyptian Theatre (6712 Hollywood Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90028, east of Highland Avenue) will paying tribute to the legendary writer of fantasy, science-fiction, mystery and just plain great literature, Ray Bradbury, who will appear in-person for two evenings with screenings of his Something Wicked This Way Comes, John Huston’s Moby Dick (a superb Bradbury screenplay) and The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms.
Born in 1920, Ray Bradbury moved to Los Angeles in 1934 and became a member of the now legendary Clifton’s Cafeteria Science Fiction Club with Forrest J. Ackerman and Ray Harryhausen as a teen. There he met writers like Robert A. Heinlein (Strangers in A Strange Land, Starship Troopers) who inspired him. Best known for his 1953 dystopian novel Fahrenheit 451 and 1950’s The Martian Chronicles, Bradbury is widely considered one of the greatest and most popular American writers of speculative fiction during the twentieth century. Ray Bradbury’s popularity has been increased by more than 20 television shows and films adapting his writings.
The tribute will take place on Friday, October 10th and Saturday, October 11th.
