JournalStone Publishing, a small press focusing in the horror/science fiction/fantasy genres in both the adult and young adult markets, is gearing up to release three new titles over the next few months.

Brett J. Talley’s That Which Should Not Be is set for an October 7th release in both hardcover and paperback.

Description: Miskatonic University has a long-whispered reputation of being strongly connected to all things occult and supernatural. From the faculty to the students, the fascination with other-worldly legends and objects runs rampant. So, when Carter Weston’s professor Dr. Thayerson asks him to search a nearby village for a book that is believed to control the inhuman forces that rule the Earth, Incendium Maleficarum, The Inferno of the Witch, the student doesn’t hesitate to begin the quest.

Weston’s journey takes an unexpected turn, however, when he ventures into a tavern in the small town of Anchorhead. Rather than passing the evening as a solitary patron, Weston joins four men who regale him with stories of their personal experiences with forces both preternatural and damned. Two stories hit close to home as they tie the tellers directly to Weston’s current mission.

His unanticipated role as passive listener proves fortuitous, and Weston fulfills his goal. Bringing the book back to Miskatonic, though, proves to be a grave mistake. Quickly, Weston realizes he has played a role in potentially opening the gate between the netherworld and the world of Man. Reversing the course of events means forgetting all he thought he knew about Miskatonic and his professor and embracing an unknown beyond his wildest imagination.

Jokers Club by Gregory Bastianelli is expected to be released on November 4th in e-book, hardback, paperback editions.

Description: Ever do something you were not proud of as a child? Did you ever dream that one blunder would haunt you for the rest of your life? Ever think a mistake you made as a child could leave you paying the debt with your life years later? I made more of my share of mistakes growing up, I’m just happy I wasn’t a part of the Jokers Club.

Once upon a time, there was a group of pleasant, young boys. They had meetings trying to decide how to better their community, how to help their fellow man, and how to lift the self-esteem of all those around them.

This is NOT their story.

The Jokers Club had a different agenda.

Instead of planting flowers, walking the old lady across the street, and smiling at the dork in class, the Jokers Club is smoking (oh no!), removing dead bodies from the grave (NO JOKE!!), and something much, much worse (DUN DUN DUN!!!).

The group of young men disband, as most do as they grow up (or until something tragic happens), and years later a reunion is underway. Each of the members has their own agenda when attending the get-together. One wants to rekindle old friendships, one wants to regain lost inspiration, one wants to borrow money, and yet another wants to show how powerful he has become.

The sleepy little town they come from is not too happy to see the return of these fellows, and when tragedy strikes the Jokers Club once again, the police are more than happy to keep an eye on these known troublemakers. But is it fair to judge these men based on their past?

Just in time for Halloween comes a brilliant horror novel that keeps you guessing the end until the very last page.

The Pentacle Pendant by Stephen M. DeBock is expected to be released on October 14th in hardcover.

Description: “On the last day of his life, Royce Williams met a woman who literally took his breath away…”

When Claire Delaney’s lover confesses he’s a werewolf, she laughs; when he begs permission to turn her, she laughs again — kinky sex, anyone? — and tells him to go for it. When she regains consciousness, she isn’t laughing any more.

As Claire learns to adapt to her new life, her lover finds his integrity compromised: by a lusty and mysterious female who seduces him into sharing his lycanthropy in return for a special gift of her own. But when he insists they share this gift, the woman realizes his loyalty remains with Claire — and knows she must destroy them both.

As if Claire’s conflicted morality at her own righteous kills aren’t enough, she now finds herself pursued on two fronts: by a covert agent who seeks to protect her and by the seductress who wants to kill her. All three paths will ultimately cross … and the battle for Claire’s soul will climax at the intersection.
