The August Fantastic Fiction at KGB reading series, hosted by Ellen Datlow and Gavin J. Grant and Veronica Schanoes will present readings by Michael Kandel. The author of the novels: Strange Invasion, In Between Dragons, Captain Jack Zodiac, and Panda Ray, Kandel has also written numerous short stories, and his most recent, “Enlightenment” will be published in the first issue of the resurrected Thrilling Wonder Stories. In addition, he is Stanislaw Lem’s American translator. Elizabeth Bear, John W. Campbell Award winner, will also be reading. Her newest, Undertow, is an sf novel about an assassin, a conjure man, a frog, and a woman with a past, all trying to provoke – and survive – incipient revolution on a frontier planet that’s little more than a company town. Immediately previous, she published a modern fantasy novel entitled Whiskey & Water, and a contrafactual history collection, New Amsterdam.

It all happens on Wednesday August15th at 7pm at KGB Bar, 85 East 4th Street (just off 2nd Ave, upstairs.)
