Charlaine Harris (True Blood vampire series), Chelsea Quinn Yarbro (Count Saint-Germain historical vampire series), and Richelle Mead (Young Adult vampire series) are three of the more than 150 authors attending the September 4-6 Labor Day weekend AJC Decatur Book Festival in Decatur, GA (just north of Atlanta). Besides authors representing most genres offering a variety of panels, the festival will also offer music, games, and a writers’ conference.
Hardcore fantasy lovers might be more attracted to downtown Atlanta as Dragon*Con also holds court on Labor Day weekend. Scheduled among the many writers, artists, gamers, and celebrities will be the actors who have warmed the captain’s chair of the Starship Enterprise: Patrick Stewart, Kate Mulgrew, and for the first time at Dragon*Con, William Shatner. Joining Shatner as a Dragon*Con virgin is Leonard Nimoy AKA Mr. Spock. Scheduled authors include Gene Wolfe, Alan Dean Foster, Timothy Zahn, Christopher Golden, Kevin J. Anderson, James A.
