Lori Cardille, the actress best known for her lead role as Sarah in George A. Romero’s zombie film, Day of the Dead, will be a guest at Horror Realm’s spring mini-con on March 5.

Ms. Cardille is an award-winning actress with a long career in film, television and theater. After earning a BFA from Carnegie Mellon University, Lori launched her professional career in New York. Among her many credits, she appeared on Broadway with Jessica Tandy and Glenda Jackson in Rose, and she originated the role of Rachael Fitzsimmons in Craig Lucas’s Reckless. She played recurring roles on The Edge of Night and Ryan’s Hope, and starred in several prime time network series. Lori received best actress awards from the France’s Cinema du Fantastique and Spain’s Sitges Film Festival for her role in Day of the Dead.

Cardille will be donating all proceeds of her autograph signings at the event to Pittsburgh Action Against Rape (PAAR), a private non-profit organization founded in 1972 in response to a series of rapes and growing public concern. PAAR’s mission is to respond to survivors of sexual violence with crisis intervention and counseling, educate the community to prevent sexual violence, and advocate for systems to respond to and prevent sexual violence. Horror Realm, Pittsburgh’s modern horror convention, will host two shows in 2011 on March 5 and September 16-18. Both shows will be held at the Crowne Plaza Pittsburgh South in Bethel Park, across from South Hills Village shopping mall.

Hours for the March show are 11 AM to 7 PM, followed by a Zombie Gras celebration from 9 PM to midnight. Admission is $7 for the convention only, $10 for the convention and Zombie Gras or $5 for Zombie Gras only. The convention is open to all ages but may not be suitable for children due to its horror content. The Zombie Gras is open to ages 18 and older with proper ID required.
